Also referred to as 'respite', STA stands for Short Term Accommodation. 

STA enables you to experience living away from your usual home, in a supported environment, for a short period of time.

It's an opportunity for you and your carer, to have a 'change of scenery' and a break away from the usual home routine. STA may be appropriate for you when your usual carer or support worker is unable to provide services for a short period of time.

The NDIS funds ‘Short-Term Accommodation and Assistance’ under the Core Support category ‘Assistance with Daily Living’ (Category 1).  The amount of funding you can receive depends on the level of support you require. 

Speak to your Support Coordinator or Planner to see what you have in your plan or how to have STA included in your next plan. 

STA funding includes all of the basic expensives that you would require in a 24 hour period for the duration of your stay, whilst you are receiving the service, such as:

• Food
• Accommodation
• Personal Care
• Any agreed activities

Come and join the My Voice team and head out into the desert for a cultural experience, linking you back to community and Country.   

This 4-day Community Participation Program will have you arrive in Alice Springs with support from our staff. After your arrival, we will prepare our trip into the desert to watch the stars at night, share stories and connect to country.

Funded out of core supports under Short Term Accommodation, all travel expenses, except for your travel expenses to and from Alice Springs, are included. We will provide food and refreshments, accommodation, agreed activity costs, personal care services and transport for the duration of your STA stay with us.
